  1. Pueri Cantores Nyamiyaga in Butare Cathedral

  • Birth date: December 27,1969
  • The founders: Priest PRIME ( A white priest who was acquaintance with Bishop Perraudin, who played a big role in founding Pueri Cantores in Rwanda).

  • The main activities: Pueri Cantores Nyamiyaga sings in Holy Masses and it has a traditional dance troop. It holds prayers retreats 4 times a year and teach the youngest members to like and praise Eucharist. They also engage in charity work such as supporting vulnerable people. Pueri Cantores Nyamiyaga has attended 5 national and 2 international congregations in Venezuela and Rome. The group encourages all Christians to keep raising their children with religious and humanitarian values. This will lead to the achievement of Pueri Cantores’ purpose of spreading peace in the whole world.
  • Members: Pueri Cantores Nyamiyaga currently constitutes of 70 members and 52 of them have sworn in. Despite the Genocide consequences that discouraged some, Pueri Cantores so far has 205 sworn-in members.
  • Location:  Pueri Cantores Nyamiyaga is located in Nyamiyaga Parish in Butare Diocese, which is headed by Bishop Philippe Rukamba, who grew up in Pueri Cantores Zaza. In this Diocese, there is the junior seminary of Karubanda and the senior seminary of Nyakibanda. It is also the first Diocese with many clergies and The University of Rwanda is found there, which is why a significant number of students/scholars attend masses there. Due to its beauty and remarkable achievements, many people travel to have retreats there especially in Monastere de Gihindamuyaga (Moine Benedictins). There is a distance of 135.8 km from Kigali to Nyamiyaga Parish.
